Templars in Elder Scrolls Online can be tanks, healers or damage dealers and can level efficiently in any role with the use of the flexible and customizable class and weapon system. No matter what role you prefer, you should follow these six leveling tips to make leveling simple:

Note: These tips will be for Templars specifically.

ESO Templar Leveling Tips

1. Choose a build that lets you do a bit of everything.

One of the strengths of the Templar class is that they can do a bit of everything. You should keep this in mind when creating your leveling build. Even if you are leveling as a healer, for example, you should have one weapon set that’s at least partially dedicated to DPS. If you’re leveling as a pure DPS, make sure to have a few self-healing options and crowd control options.

2. Choose two weapon types that grant you more flexibility.

Again, think flexibility when it comes to choosing your two weapon sets. Having one melee set and one ranged set– or even two ranged sets– is generally a smarter idea than having two melee sets or two of the same weapon type.

3. Quest, quest, quest.

Completing quests grants you the largest chunks of experience by far. Complete as many quests as possible, but don’t rush through areas. Take some time to explore areas (and stick to the road!) to discover side quests in every area.

4. Used balanced attributes.

You will most likely find it best to balance out your attributes while leveling. You can reset them at any time. Following a setup like Magicka > Health > Stamina will fit most Templar casters well, for example. Tailor your attributes to what you notice you commonly run out of first.

5. Interrupt, block and dodge are your friends.

It’s also important to save Stamina during fights to interrupt, block and roll out of dangerous ground effects. Blocking harmful attacks will generally disorient an enemy which can be a huge help when taking out two or more enemies at a time.

6. Pull carefully.

Mobs tend to respawn quickly in ESO. As you gain more levels, mobs will also be in larger packs. Pull carefully and utilize Sneak if you have to in order to avoid dangerous groups. Remember to slot some type of crowd control that can be used to make the initial pull easier. The Templar ranged spells often work well for pulling.

Guide to Play the Elder Scrolls Online Templar As a Supporter

Posted by Sun Master on Friday Feb 14, 2014 Under Class, Guide, Skills

Some of the latest updates in the article below are not taken into account yet. However, for a more comprehensive and up-to-date details on advanced strategies, you should take a look into KillerGuides' digital handbook. This was how I was able to make my Templar reach level 50 within a week. Read my review of the guide here.

Introduction
Of the four classes the Templar is the only class that can heal without using a restoration staff, this makes it a particularly potent support class. There are two main archetypes that I’m going to discuss, both focus primarily on supporting a party rather than maximizing independent DPS for solo play.

The Tank Support
The tank support is a front-line fighter whose role is to draw aggro from monsters while supporting the party with buffs and healing skills. As a tank support you should use heavy armor and a shield, and invest any points you can spare into health to increase your survivability. Orismer and Redguard are both ideal races for this kind of elder scrolls templar class as they gain increased experience in heavy armor and shield affinity respectively. The Orismer further benefits from increased health and health regeneration, while the Redguard gets bonuses to stamina and stamina regeneration.

In combat use Focused Charge to engage enemies. Resist the temptation to load up on offensive skills, remember your priority should be protecting and supporting your teammates. Since you’ll be in the middle of the fight, you can make the most effective use of spells like Healing Ritual and Right of Passage.

The Ranged Support
The ranged weapon can either be a bow user or a staff, but in either case his role is to provide crowd control and support from a safe distance. Since you shouldn’t be taking too many hits feel free to use light armor and dump all your points into magicka or stamina. You’re going to want to be either a Bosmer (for bow) or a Breton (for caster) as they provide the most useful bonuses for a ranged support Templar.

As a ranged support, you will have a perfect view of the entire battle, allowing you to heal allies wherever needed and assist in focusing down priority targets. Use Rushed Ceremony to keep everyone’s health up, and Sun Fire or Scatter Shot to keep enemies snared. For your ultimate Nova is probably the best option but Rite of Passage is still good.

In Hindsight
These are just guidelines. Naturally you will want to adjust your build according to your specific needs depending on the dungeon, your party’s composition, as well as your own personal play style. After all there are many ways to build a support character. The important thing is that you assist your teammates, however you choose to actually do it.
